Sanusi, the controversial Kedah MB, has issued a warning regarding reflexology centres in the state, emphasizing that there are no happy endings for Kedahans. This statement has sparked curiosity about what takes place at these centres in Kedah.
As a resident of Kuala Lumpur, I can share my experience of visiting a reflexology centre at The Royal Lake Club, where skilled masseuses who are blind or partially impaired provide their services. The owner himself is blind and has been serving club members for over three decades. Usually, after a satisfying reflexology session, one leaves feeling physically lighter and more relaxed.
However, an article by World of Buzz caught our attention with its headline, "No 'Happy Endings'! Sanusi Won't Renew Licenses of Kedah Massage Centres Offering Immoral Services." The subheading further clarifies that no happy endings are allowed in Kedah, specifically when visiting massage and reflexology centres in the state.
The phrase "happy endings" led a naive young man in our chat group to search for its meaning. He came across a book called No Happy Endings, which is about people rebuilding their lives after experiencing significant hardships. The book explores the idea that life isn't always happy, but it continues with new beginnings, encompassing both joy and tragedy.
So, it begs the question: Why is Sanusi, the controversial Kedah MB, making such waves about reflexology centres in his state as he prepares to leave office?
According to Bernama, the Kedah government plans to take strict action against reflexology centers, including shutting them down if they engage in activities that violate licensing conditions. Sanusi explains that if monitoring by local authorities, the police, the Immigration Department, and the state government reveals that these centers are involved in prohibited activities, their licenses will not be renewed, leading to their closure.
Apparently, the state has received numerous complaints regarding "other" activities taking place in some massage centres, which Sanusi considers immoral. It should be noted that in a religious state like Kedah, such activities are deemed haram or forbidden.
The naive young man in our group continues to question what's wrong with experiencing a sense of happiness and lightness after a reflexology massage. In response, one of the seniors in the group explains that Sanusi's concern is not related to the foot, but rather about the involvement of the "other" male organ, which society and the law consider immoral. In a religious state like Kedah, these activities are strictly forbidden.
"That, my friend, is why people from Kedah travel north to Thailand's sin city of Hatyai or the border town of Danok on weekends, in search of happy endings," adds the most senior and knowledgeable member of our group.
