Sara's lawyer denies 'laptop-throwing' claim, says it's 'creative but false'

MANILA, Philippines — The spokesman and defense counsel has described as "fake news" and "pure fiction" allegations that her client, Vice President Sara Duterte, threw a laptop at him over her alleged frustrations on her impeachment case.

The rumor was spread on social media and amplified by lawyer Lorna Kapunan in a radio interview on Tuesday.

"Siguro tinamaan ng laptop sa ulo, yun ang sinasabi ng mga trolls eh (Maybe he was hit at the head by the laptop, that was what the trolls are saying)," Kapunan said.

Another lawyer, Jesus Falcis, also said that if "Sara Duterte’s defense is weak on both the facts and the law: mag bato ka ng laptop sa abogado mo, este, pound on the table! (throw the laptop on your lawyer or pound on the table),"

But in a statement to The Manila Times, Poa dismissed these claims.

"Fake news. Creative but completely false," Poa said.

He also further said in an interview that he never saw Duterte having a "temper" but that the Vice President was "decisive" in her actions during his time as part of the Department of Education.

Duterte has yet to comment on the issue. The vice president is currently at The Hague to visit her father, former Ppresident Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently jailed at the International Criminal Court.
