THE volume of transactions generated under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, cases of fraud involving buying and selling transactions, and new initiatives to expand social protection are among the key issues set to be debated in the Dewan Rakyat today.
According to the Order Paper published on Parliament’s official website, Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa (PH-Sekijang) has submitted a question to the Finance Minister on the total allocation for the SARA programme disbursed through the MyKasih system throughout 2025, as well as the actual value of transactions generated in the domestic market.
The question will be raised during the Ministers’ Question Time.
Dr Zaliha is also seeking clarification on the status of unspent assistance by recipients up to the programme’s expiry date of 31 December 2025, and the government’s plans to improve the system in 2026.
In the same session, Kalam Salan (PN-Sabak Bernam) will ask the Human Resources Minister to state what assurances the government can provide that placing the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) under the ministry will not compromise the interests, welfare or effectiveness of initiatives related to the Indian community.
Meanwhile, V Ganabatirau (PH-Klang) will question the National Unity Minister on whether the government plans to establish a national-level mechanism or coordinating body to manage and streamline non-Islamic religious affairs, particularly on issues related to governance of houses of worship, legal compliance, community conflict mediation and interfaith harmony.
During the question-and-answer session, Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu) will direct a question to the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living regarding the number of fraud cases involving buying and selling transactions reported since 2023, how many have been brought to court during that period, and the types of penalties imposed.
Also listed is a question from Datuk Seri Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali (BN-Pekan) to the Human Resources Minister on the latest initiatives to broaden the scope of social protection for workers, including those in the gig economy, contract workers and part-time employees who remain marginalised.
Following the conclusion of the question-and-answer session, the Dewan Rakyat sitting will continue with ministerial winding-up speeches on the motion of thanks for the Royal Address.
The current Dewan Rakyat session is scheduled to sit for 20 days, ending on 3 March. - February 5, 2026
