MIRI (May 29): Sarawak is progressing steadily towards regional green energy hub status through the implementation of various renewable energy initiatives, including hydroelectric, hydrogen and solar projects, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.

The State Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development said the state government’s green energy agenda is not only supporting sustainable development but also creating employment opportunities and strengthening local technological capabilities.

“This is the Sarawak government’s commitment to advancing development based on green technology, renewable energy and the wellbeing of the people.

“These initiatives will benefit the people and contribute to overall development in the state, including in Limbang,” he said during a pre-Gawai visit programme organised by the Bukit Kota Community Service Centre at Rumah Sidek, Kampung Bukit Impas, Limbang on Thursday.

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Bukit Kota assemblyman, said several major development projects are currently underway in Limbang, including the Limbang Waterfront development, the proposed extension of the Limbang Airport runway, as well as the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) and the Trans Borneo Highway.

He noted that the projects are aimed at improving transportation connectivity in northern Sarawak while supporting economic growth in the region.

Dr Abdul Rahman said the government is also focusing on enhancing rural infrastructure and basic amenities, including farm roads, covered parking areas and other village infrastructure.

During the event, he also conveyed Gawai Dayak greetings to the Dayak community in his constituency, expressing hope that the celebration would bring prosperity while strengthening unity among Sarawakians.
