Sarawak claimed two gold medals in diving at SUKMA 2026, winning women’s synchro 3m springboard and men’s 10m platform events in Shah Alam.

SARAWAK swept two gold medals in diving at the 2026 Malaysia Games (Sukma) at the Selangor Aquatic Centre here today through the women’s synchronised 3m springboard and men’s 10m platform events.

In the action, Sarawak’s pair of Nur Eilisha Rania Muhammad Abrar Raj and Dayang Nursharzyra Awang won the women’s 3m springboard synchronised event, collecting 221.01 points to win gold.

The silver medal went to Federal Territory pair who collected 217.56 points while Selangor won bronze with 209.01 points.

For Eilisha, the victory was even more meaningful when the pair managed to defend the gold they won at the last Sukma edition, although she admitted that the competition this time was not easy as there were other pairs with a higher level of diving difficulty.

“Doing 3m synchro is not easy because there are those who have greater difficulty than us, some who have the same dives and so on. So we just try our best, but Alhamdulillah, fortune is on our side,” she said when met by reporters after the championship here today.

Dayang admitted that they faced a few problems in the fourth and fifth dives, but it did not stop the pair from retaining the championship.

“We had okay dives one, two and three. The fourth dive was a little bit, while the fifth dive I think I slipped a little too much, but Alhamdulillah we also got this gold,” she said.

Meanwhile, Elvis Priestly Clement rose in the last dive with a total of 397.30 points after only being in third place after five dives, thus surpassing his teammate Jared Aiden Harold who won the silver medal with 396.20 points in the men’s platform individual.

The silver medal went to Sabah diver Muhammad Anilrian Normatrud Abdullah with 340.65 points.

Elvis said his success was largely influenced by the higher difficulty of the dive, besides admitting that he still made a few mistakes throughout the competition and was tired after competing in the competition for four consecutive days.

“I made a lot of mistakes, but that can still be changed in the future. Diving is not based solely on skill, but it also depends on luck. Maybe my luck today is getting number one.

“I won because of the difficulty. If I had the same difficulty as others, maybe I would be number three or number two, but maybe that’s my luck,” he said.

The gold was Elvis’ third gold medal at Sukma this time after contributing victory in the synchronised 3m springboard and synchronised 10m platform events with Jared.
