Sidhu demands FIR against Ward No. 10 candidate
Meanwhile, former Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu has demanded that the State Election Commission immediately register a case against Independent candidate Paramjit Singh Kahlon and his associates. Sidhu has alleged charges of storing illegal liquor to influence voters, threatening opponents with weapons and cheating against Kahlon.
Sidhu stated that his son, Kanwarbir Singh Sidhu — the Congress candidate from Ward No. 10 — caught individuals unloading a large quantity of liquor cartons at Kahlon’s Phase 7 residence (House No. 2590). Kahlon, a Congress rebel, is reportedly contesting as an Independent with the government backing.
According to Sidhu, the liquor was being unloaded from a black vehicle belonging to Punjab Police Inspector Balwinder Singh. He claimed that a police uniform, sharp-edged weapons and a large quantity of liquor were found inside the vehicle. Sidhu further alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had backed Kahlon in this ward specifically to divide the Congress vote share and benefit its candidate.
