Saturday’s sport: What’s on and where can I watch?

Germany and the Netherlands are among the sides in action at the World Cup on Saturday.

Northampton face Exeter in the Gallagher Prem final while the second Test between England and New Zealand and the US Open also continue.

Here is a guide to what is happening in the sporting world on Saturday, and where you can watch in the UK.

Second outings for Dutch and Germans

The Netherlands will look to get their first win of the World Cup as they take on Sweden in their second Group F match in Houston (6pm, BBC One). Germany, who opened with a 7-1 thrashing of Curacao, play the Ivory Coast in Toronto at 9pm (ITV1) in Group E.

Two other matches take place in the early hours of Sunday morning with Ecuador playing Curacao (1am, BBC One) and Tunisia tackling Japan (5am, BBC One).

The Gallagher Prem season reaches its climax as Northampton, table-toppers at the end of the regular season, and Exeter clash at Allianz Stadium (3pm, TNT Sports 1).

Both sides have been boosted by the availability of England players. Immanuel Feyi-Waboso will line up on the wing for the Chiefs after recovering from a facial fracture while Saints’ Alex Mitchell has overcome a hamstring problem and will be on the bench.

What else is happening?

England and New Zealand are back on the field for day four of the second Test at the Kia Oval, with TV coverage on Sky Sports’ Main Event and Cricket channels from 10.15am.

Golf’s third major of the year, the US Open, continues at Shinnecock Hills with coverage on Sky Sports Golf from 4pm.

England v Scotland at Headingley (7pm, Sky Sports Main Event/Cricket) is of three games at the Women’s T20 World Cup while the men’s singles semi-finals at the HSBC Championships at Queen’s Club also take place (1pm, BBC One). There is further Wimbledon build-up at the Nottingham Open.

Keely Hodgkinson is among the headline acts at the UK Athletics Outdoor Championships in Birmingham (BBC digital platforms), in a rare 400 metres outing for the 800m star, while promoted York’s clash with Wigan (3pm, Sky Sports+ red button) is the pick of three Betfred Super League matches.

In horse racing, it is the final day of Royal Ascot, featuring the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at 4.20pm. Coverage is on ITV1 from 1.25pm. There are also race meetings at Ayr, Doncaster, Newmarket, Nottingham and Redcar.

1949: American tennis player Gussie Moran caused a stir at Wimbledon when she appeared wearing lace-trimmed knickers designed by Teddy Tinling. The All England Club was so outraged that Tinling was not welcome at Wimbledon for 33 years.
