It is baseless to claim that constructing the Mazu statue near the Kudat district mosque will disturb the solemnity of Muslim worship in the district, said Parti Keadilan Rakyat Vice President Awang Hussaini Datuk Sahari.
PKR is a key component of the new Anwar-led Unity Federal Government which emphasises on the new Madani concept as the way forward for Malaysia based on good governance, racial harmony and sustainable development.
Awang Hussaini said it is absurd to suggest that erecting the Mazu statue would be a form of propagation to Muslims, as they are protected under Article 11 of the Federal Constitution.
