Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Council of Churches (SCC) on Saturday extended warm greetings and heartfelt wishes to the Sikh community in Sabah and around the world on the occasion of Vaisakhi.
In a statement, SCC President Reverend Datuk Ir Jerry Dusing highlighted the significance of Vaisakhi, not only as a harvest festival but also as a commemoration of the formation of the Khalsa Panth in 1699.
Reverend Jerry emphasised the values of courage, unity and devotion embodied by Vaisakhi, noting that the festival serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of justice, equality and service to humanity – principles deeply rooted in Sikh teachings.
He stated that the SCC sees Vaisakhi as a time for joy, reflection and community building, encouraging all members of society to embrace the spirit of unity and understanding.
