Liverpool hope to have Jorg Schamdtke hired before the summer market kicks off.
The former VfL Wolfsburg sporting director is now in advanced talks over a deal with Liverpool.
The Daily Mail says Schmadtke is set to join Liverpool on the strong recommendation of manager Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp stated earlier this year a wish to work with the 59 year-old.
And it's emerged Schamdtke has been offered a deal by Liverpool to 2026 - the same year Klopp's recently signed contract expires.
