As former Chairman of Parent Teacher Association (PIBG) for several primary and secondary schools, I realized beyond academic breaks, school holidays offer opportunities for personal growth to support holistic development, exploration, and mental recovery. I am convinced that the significance of school holidays extends across several core areas of a student's life. These holiday breaks are a common time for families to get together and enjoy each other's company. Students have the opportunity to enjoy some quality time with their family members, learn about history, take part in cultural heritage traditions, which are mostly practiced during holiday celebrations. Students can shift focus from class homework in order to catch up with family, relatives & friends.

My wife, Zarina & I as parents for four children and grandparents for five grandchildren, discovered that holiday breaks have proven to be highly beneficial for student's mental health and wellness since they allow for spare time for relaxing or doing various responsibilities learning from academic and religious classes, sports and extracurricular activities, and their own personal lives. Therefore, all students deserve time for their own mental health and wellbeing.

I believe when properly managed, school breaks give students time to decompress from demanding school schedules, encourage rest, and give students the boost they need to refocus and do their best when they are back in class. Not only have holiday breaks proven to be highly beneficial for their mental health, but they are undoubtedly beneficial for physical health too. When an individual's mental health is in balance, the body also gets good advantage.

Based on my own experience, there is a boost in travel during holiday season. Traveling is wholesome for the mind, heart, body, and soul since it allows individuals to have new and exciting experiences as well as a break from day-to-day routine. Students likely to come back home with lifelong memories.
