School stabbing incident: Suspect claimed she was dissatisfied, allegedly bullied

THE suspect in the stabbing case at a secondary school in Banting said she was dissatisfied and harboured ill feelings after claiming that he was bullied, prompting her to commit the act last Monday.

Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar, said, however, the results of police questioning several individuals, including 10 students, in connection with the case at this stage did not point to bullying.

"The thorough investigation is still ongoing and has not been completed. The police are asking the public to give the investigating officers time to conduct a full investigation.

"However, initial investigations at this stage have found that the reason given by the suspect was dissatisfaction; it can be said that the suspect harboured feelings towards several schoolmates who allegedly bullied the suspect.

"However, the evidence obtained so far does not point to an incident of bullying," he said today.

He said the suspect is also believed to be facing stress issues and possibly family problems, which are currently being assessed by a counselling expert.

Shazeli said the police are also investigating aspects of social media use, which may have influenced the suspect's mind and behaviour.

"We are also looking into aspects of social media use which are said to have influenced the mind and actions, what type of social media cannot be disclosed," he said.

"The investigation also found that the suspect had been involved in a school building jumping incident at the end of last year.

"The police also confirmed that they received a Disabled Person (OKU) card under the Autism category in the suspect's name and that she had not attended school for about eight months and was undergoing 'home schooling' due to health problems," he said.

He explained that the police investigation also found that the suspect was believed to have used the opportunity to enter the school grounds when the gate was open, and that it was not a weakness of the school.

Investigations also found that the suspect had bought sharp weapons online.

"The weapon was placed in a backpack, and she entered the school grounds through the open gate," he said.

At the same time, he said, the female student who was the victim of the stabbing is in stable condition and still receiving treatment in the hospital.

"The number of stab wounds has not been confirmed; the police are waiting for the official medical report," he said.

It was earlier reported that a female Form Three student was injured after being stabbed dozens of times in several parts of the back of the body, shoulder and face at a school in Banting, Selangor.

Following the incident, the victim was rushed to Banting Hospital for treatment.

The suspect, who was also a teenage girl, was wearing a black T-shirt and red-and-black checkered pants at the time of the incident and is believed to have entered the school grounds through the main entrance. – July 9, 2026
