Scottie Scheffler fired his way back into contention at the US Open on Saturday after a late birdie barrage on his back nine.
Scheffler and his reliable caddie Ted Scott plotted their way around the tricky Shinnecock Hills layout on day three.
The world number one posted a 69 and now he’s sitting in a tie for second with 18 holes left to play.
However, Scottie Scheffler trails the US Open leader, Wyndham Clark by six at the time of writing.

The 29-year-old has every chance of chasing Clark down on Sunday at Shinnecock Hills, especially if he emulates the form he showed on the back nine on Saturday.
Scottie Scheffler comments on Ted Scott’s performance on day three at the US Open
Interestingly, Scheffler was criticized for berating Ted Scott at The Memorial two weeks ago.
After Scheffler’s ball found the water on the par-three 16th hole at Muirfield Village, he embarked on a five-minute rant aimed at his caddie.
However, the world number one was full of praise for Scott on Saturday evening.
He responded when asked how much Scott helped him out on the golf course on Saturday.
“Yeah, I mean, pretty much the normal amount,“ he said.
“I feel like I rely on Ted pretty heavily most weeks.
We talk through each and every shot together. This week we’ve been reading the greens together, as well.

“He’s done a really good job of keeping me in the right head space, keeping me committed to what we’re doing.
“Like I said, you can hit a lot of good shots and end up in some spots where you’re going to be frustrated with the result, but I think that’s part of the U.S. Open test.
“We did a good job of staying patient and stealing some shots where we could. The back nine we definitely stole a couple of shots.“
Scottie Scheffler on Grand Slam chances
Scheffler was asked whether the opportunity to complete the career grand Slam on Sunday will intensify his focus.
“Any time you are trying to win a major is an intense situation,“ he replied.
“That’s why we practice and do what we do.
“I am looking forward to the challenge of going out and trying to win on a different golf course.
“Right now I am five shots back and we will see how the day shakes out.”
Scottie Scheffler may have a huge task on his hands if he is to catch Wyndham Clark at the US Open on Sunday.
However, with his experience, and indeed with Ted Scott on the bag, he has a real chance of completing the career Grand Slam on Sunday at Shinnecock.
