Second Hull player crashes car near training ground

A second Hull player has reportedly been involved in a motor accident near the team's training facility, with photos published on social media showing a vehicle rolled onto its side.

French summer arrival Lucas Gourna-Douath is understood to have been driving during Thursday's crash on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, where a Mercedes was pictured on its side.

The crash comes three weeks after Hull midfielder Sorba Thomas escaped without injury when his Land Rover overturned onto its roof along the same narrow residential street on 11 September.

Providing details on the latest crash, Humberside Police stated: "Officers and emergency services were called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham at around 8.30am this morning (Thursday, 1 October 2026).

"Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of the collision."

Responding to the incident, a brief statement from the club confirmed: "Hull City is aware of images circulating on social media following a road traffic accident near the club’s training ground and can confirm that no one was harmed in the incident."

In the wake of the collision, local councillor Phil Redshaw stated on Facebook that he had contacted the team earlier in the week to ask that players be urged to drive with greater caution when approaching the training ground.

Writing on social media, he said: "I only wrote to the club on Sunday, asking them to remind staff to drive with more care and attention when heading for the training ground!"

On the pitch, Hull have made a strong start to the season on their return to the Premier League. The Tigers are currently eighth in the Premier League table after claiming eight points from their opening five matches.

Sergej Jakirovic’s men won their first matches against Manchester United and Ipswich before earning draws against Aston Villa and Chelsea.

Hull suffered their first defeat of the campaign in their final game before the international break as they slipped to a 2-1 loss at Newcastle, despite finishing the game strongly.

They are due to return to action against Everton on 11 October.
