A day after polling for the 18 civic bodies across Doaba, security arrangements were made today by the respective district administration outside the strong rooms where the ballot paper boxes have been stored.

As per the High Court’s instructions, complete videography is being conducted inside and outside the strong rooms and at the counting centers.

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Kapurthala Akash Bansal informed that voters showed great enthusiasm during these elections, under which a voter turnout of 61.50 percent was recorded for Municipal Corporation Kapurthala and 68.84 percent for Municipal Council Sultanpur Lodhi.

Bansal said that vote counting will take place on May 29. The counting for Municipal Corporation Kapurthala will be held at the counting center established at Virsa Vihar, while the counting for Municipal Council Sultanpur Lodhi will be conducted at the BDPO office in Sultanpur Lodhi, and the election results will be declared the same day.

He further informed that strict security arrangements have been made at both counting centers and strong rooms to ensure the smooth completion of the counting process and to fully maintain law and order. Additional police force has been deployed around the counting centres, and no unrelated person without an authorised pass will be allowed entry.
