KOTA KINABALU: Sedco Mining Sdn Bhd (SMSB), a subsidiary of the Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco), has officially received initial migration data for Temporary Occupation Licences (TOL) from the Land and Survey Department during a handover ceremony here on Tuesday.

Entrusted with managing Sabah's river and sea sand resources since 2009, SMSB began operations in August 2023 and is now the sole entity overseeing concessions, ensuring transparency, sustainability, and efficiency in the industry.

Key benefits of this transition include stricter revenue collection controls, enhanced environmental protection, improved operational efficiency, and increased opportunities for qualified local vendors.

Sedco Mining has urged all stakeholders, including vendors and government agencies, to collaborate to ensure smooth operations and promise integrity and transparency in resource management.

The data was handed over by Land and Survey Department representative Robert Robin Millip to SMSB CEO Shamsul Bahri Johari, witnessed by Sedco Chairman Datuk Rubin Balang and other key officials.
