KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco) and Sabah Urban Development Corporation (SUDC) have launched a joint turnaround initiative to revitalise Lahad Datu’s Darvel Bay Plaza into a vibrant commercial hub once again.
The move was announced during a townhall meeting on Wednesday, led by Sedco Group General Manager Datuk James Wong Kein Peng alongside SUDC Chief Executive Officer Datuk Afizal Aldin and SUDC General Manager Anthony Undan Dumpangol, with property owners, tenants and buyers in attendance.
A strategic recovery plan, developed in collaboration with TS Wong Biz Solutions, focuses on improving maintenance, tenant management, retail mix, customer experience and financial accountability.
Sedco and SUDC also introduced structured communication and progress reporting systems to ensure transparency and cooperation among stakeholders, stressing that sustained progress requires active support from property owners.
They expressed confidence that with collective effort, Darvel Bay Plaza will regain its position as Lahad Datu’s key commercial asset, benefiting investors, businesses and the wider community.
