Kota Kinabalu: A Chinese woman who was badly injured in last Friday’s incident where the entire first floor of a two-floor restaurant in Segama collapsed, lost her left leg below the knee to amputation, Tuesday.

Wang Wei, 55, had also sustained severe injuries on both thighs when parts of the concrete ceiling fell on her and her husband in the 7.50pm incident on March 8.

She was hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

She and husband Yu Ping An, 58, used visa to visit their son, Yu Lei, 28, who operates a Chinese Muslim restaurant in Segama. Their son had been residing here for seven years after graduating from Kinabalu Commercial College.

According to Yu Lei, his parents were inside his restaurant when the first floor suddenly fell after diners had left.

“My father sustained light injuries but my mother was seriously hurt.”
