SHOUTS of "Daulat Tuanku!" and colourful banners bearing congratulatory messages filled the streets of Klang this morning as the people of Selangor turned out in large numbers to celebrate the royal wedding of Tengku Amir Shah, the Raja Muda of Selangor.
The atmosphere in the royal town was jubilant, with crowds assembling along the main procession route from as early as 6am to witness the Crown Prince’s ceremonial procession to Istana Alam Shah, where the marriage rites would take place.
The Crown Prince, dressed in traditional white ceremonial attire and a songkok, was escorted in regal fashion aboard the royal Rolls-Royce bearing the iconic registration number A1. The procession spanned approximately 650 metres from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery to the palace.
Accompanied by members of the royal household and senior palace officials, Tengku Amir Shah was flanked by the 25th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment, who served as the official escorts. The event was further enlivened by the rhythmic beats of the Selangor Royal Palace kompang ensemble.
The procession commenced with a special prayer recited by Datuk Muhammad Farhan Wijaya, Grand Imam of Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, seeking divine blessings for the royal union.
Though the solemnisation ceremony was conducted privately within the Royal Mosque at Istana Alam Shah at 10am, the public element of the event was no less significant.
Onlookers, including Malaysians of various backgrounds, dressed in traditional attire such as *baju Melayu* and batik, adding to the cultural vibrancy of the day.
Today’s ceremony marks a momentous chapter in Selangor’s royal history, as Tengku Amir Shah embarks on a new journey with his bride, Cik Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz, amid a display of unity, tradition and heartfelt celebration from the people of Selangor.
