Selangor police mobilise 542 personnel for Op Selamat and Op Lancar to ensure smooth traffic and safety during the Aidilfitri festive period.

PETALING JAYA: The Selangor police contingent has deployed 542 officers and personnel to ensure smooth traffic flow and road user safety during the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the deployment involves 41 officers and 501 personnel who will be on duty throughout the festive season.

He stated that the assignment is reinforced with logistical assets, including 70 patrol cars and 148 Motorcycle Patrol Units.

“Close monitoring will be carried out at 23 strategic locations covering 16 districts to enforce the speed limit,” Shazeli said.

He added that special focus will be given to 53 identified hotspots and 34 blackspots.

Shazeli was speaking at a press conference after a Road Safety Campaign event at the PJS 2 Toll Plaza.

He explained that proactive steps have been taken by arranging Op Lancar operations in advance, starting from March 18 to March 29.

This operation aims to regulate major congestion points throughout Selangor.

Shazeli also reminded drivers of goods vehicles about the driving ban on March 19 to 20 and March 28 to 29.

He warned that failure to comply is an offence and could result in a fine of up to RM2,000.

Exemptions are given to heavy machinery and cranes carrying out emergency work.

The public can contact the Selangor JSPT Operations Room or the Selangor CCC for emergency assistance or to report traffic issues.
