KAJANG, July 13 - The final list of athletes representing Selangor at the 22nd Malaysia Games (SUKMA) will be announced on July 25, said youth, sports and entrepreneurship executive councillor Mohd Najwan Halimi.
He said the finalisation process was in its last stage, with several technical matters still being coordinated between the management and state sports associations before the official announcement by the Selangor State Sports Council (MSN).
“The final list of athletes is now in its final stage. We are resolving several issues internally between the sports management and associations.
“As of today, all issues have been addressed smoothly and we are only waiting for the official announcement by MSN Selangor to introduce the athletes who will represent the state, including the presentation of flags to each Selangor contingent at a later ceremony,” he said.
He told reporters this after flagging off the 22nd SUKMA and Para SUKMA 2026 torch run at Kajang Stadium here last night.
In a related development, Najwan said two events - artistic swimming and team rapid fire - had been dropped after failing to meet the minimum participation requirement of six states.
However, he said the decision would not affect Selangor’s preparations or its medal target.
“The removal of these two events will not affect Selangor’s preparations and our medal projection remains on track,” he added.
SUKMA Selangor 2026 is scheduled to be held from August 15 to 24, while Para SUKMA 2026 will take place from September 5 to 14.
