Selangor to continue strengthening economy, attract high-quality investments

SHAH ALAM, July 3 - The state government will continue strengthening Selangor's economy by attracting more high-quality investments while creating greater employment opportunities.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said these efforts would be further intensified following the state's strong economic performance, with Selangor's gross domestic product (GDP) reaching RM460.1 billion in 2025.

This achievement enables Selangor to retain its position as the country's largest contributor to the national economy, accounting for 26.5 per cent of Malaysia's GDP.

“Selangor has once again made history by recording economic growth of 6.3 per cent in 2025, surpassing the national growth rate of 5.2 per cent.

“For four consecutive years, Selangor's economy has continued to set new records, with GDP rising from RM385.2 billion to RM406.6 billion, then RM432.1 billion, and now RM460.1 billion. This proves that the direction we have taken is the right one,” he said in a Facebook post.

Ng added that the achievement was driven by the contributions of entrepreneurs, investors, workers, and the people of Selangor, who have collectively propelled the state's economic development.

The Malaysian Statistics Department's report, released on Wednesday (July 1), revealed that Selangor contributed RM460.1 billion to the national GDP in 2025, accounting for 26.5 per cent of Malaysia's overall economy.

Earlier, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the state's economic growth was driven by the expansion of three key sectors: services, which grew by RM15.9 billion, followed by manufacturing (RM5.3 billion), and construction (RM3.7 billion).

In 2024, Selangor recorded a GDP of RM432.1 billion, contributing 26.2 per cent to the national economy.
