Selangor will establish a special task force by Monday to address challenges from the global energy crisis, focusing on public welfare and economic sustainability.

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government will announce a special task force by Monday to tackle challenges from the global energy crisis.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the task force will focus on people’s survival and state economic sustainability.

It will specifically address potential risks to food and energy supplies.

Amirudin said a meeting to finalise the task force’s establishment was held today.

Members will include experts from economics, finance, and industries like oil and gas.

Programme proposals from departments and government-linked companies will be scrutinised by the task force for implementation.

“The approach taken will also be coordinated with the federal government’s measures,” he said.

This coordination includes policies like work from home to ensure uniform implementation.

Amirudin spoke after attending the Selangor State Level Jelajah Taat Setia MADANI programme.

The event was held at Dewan Raja Muda Musa and attended by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.

On the prime minister’s recent message to state leaders, Amirudin said it emphasised ensuring basic supplies.

It also highlighted potential national risks and the importance of state-federal cooperation.

Regarding the April State Legislative Assembly session, Amirudin confirmed it will proceed as usual.

He stated there is currently no need for extraordinary measures like an emergency.

Administrative activities and state programmes will also continue normally.

“The important thing now is to give explanation to the people about the steps that have been and will be taken,” he said.
