KENINGAU: A multi-agency technical committee conducting site inspections across 22 villages to assess the suitability of proposed housing locations for Rumah Mesra Sabah Maju Jaya.
The field assessment, led by Bingkor Community Development Officer (PPM) Lectus Fung, reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that every application is evaluated fairly, transparently and based on the actual conditions on the ground.
Joining the inspection are Assistant District Officer (Development) Siti Hairyani Yahya and officers from the Keningau District Office, Head of the Keningau Parliamentary Service Centre (PKRP) Saldivilla Wences, representing Keningau Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Jeffrey G. Kitingan, as well as officials from the Keningau Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID).
The site visits are necessary to determine whether each location meets the technical requirements for the implementation of the 2026 RMSMJ programme.
Among the villages visited were Kg. Lambanga, Kg. Rezab Lambanga, Kg. Takad, Kg. Tohan Baru, Kg. Liau Darat, Kg. Liau Laut, Kg. Tonobon, Kg. Pagansangan, Kg. Mingitom Baru, Kg. Berungis, Kg. Kumawanan, Kg. Bandukan Lama, Kg. Bunsit, Kg. Minansut, Kg. Sandapak, Kg. Tuntumolod, Kg. Buang Sayang, Kg. Baginda, Kg. Binaong, Kg. Ayangan, Kg. Tuarid Taud and Kg. Toboh Laut.
The technical evaluation is one of the most important components of the housing selection process, ensuring that government assistance is channelled to eligible applicants in an accountable and transparent manner while confirming that every proposed site is suitable for residential construction.
The collaborative approach adopted by the District Office, the Keningau Parliamentary Service Centre, the Community Development Unit and the Department of Irrigation and Drainage also demonstrates the government’s commitment to maintaining high standards of governance throughout the implementation process.
Through careful on-site verification and close inter-agency cooperation, the RMSMJ programme continues to reinforce the state’s commitment to ensuring that housing assistance reaches those who genuinely qualify, while helping more Sabah families realise the dream of owning a dignified and comfortable home.
