
TAWAU: The semi-nude body of a 15-year-old girl was found in an oil palm plantation drain in Brantian, Kalabakan, with strangulation marks on her neck and hands, last Wednesday. Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said preliminary physical examinations found the injuries may have been caused by a hard object.
Police received a report of the incident around 2.45 pm from the plantation manager in Brantian.
“Our team carried out an investigation at the scene and found a young woman dead with her hands and neck tied with black adhesive tape and several injuries on her body,” he said in a statement, Sunday.
Police arrested a 14-year-old male suspect and seized some case from him to help with the investigation.
He added that the suspect and victim children of plantation workers, living in the same neighbourhood.
The suspect was remanded seven days from Jan 5 to 11 for further investigation. “The case was classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said.
