PASAY CITY — Sen. Bong Go led a relief operation Tuesday for fire victims in Barangay 139, Pasay City.
“I will help you wherever you are in the Philippines, as long as my body and time allow,” Go told the families displaced by the blaze.
The senator reiterated the importance of Republic Act (RA) 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of permanent, safe, and fully equipped evacuation centers in every city and municipality nationwide. As the law’s principal author and co-sponsor, Go said institutionalized evacuation centers are vital to safeguarding the dignity, health, and safety of disaster-affected communities and to speeding up recovery efforts.
Go further highlighted RA 11589, or the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act, which provides a 10-year program to strengthen fire prevention and response through additional personnel, modern equipment, and enhanced training. He was the principal author and co-sponsor of the measure.
A total of 43 affected families received financial aid, food items, rice, water containers, grocery packs, clothing, and fruit. Some beneficiaries also received bicycles, mobile phones, shoes, and watches.
