MANILA, Philippines — The Senate has postponed the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte and shifted to a work-from-home arrangement on Monday amid continued heavy rainfall brought by the southwest monsoon, Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian said.
"The Senate will be under WFH setup today. No trial and session today as well," Gatchalian said in a social media post.
In an advisory, Senate Secretary Renato Bantug said that Gatchalian allowed all Senate officials and employees to work from home in view of Memorandum Circular 123 by the Office of the President and in view of the projected heavy rainfall due to the southwest monsoon.
"The impeachment trial and plenary session of the Senate today are cancelled and shall resume tomorrow, Tuesday, 11 August 2026," Bantug said.
