Senate suspends work Monday

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate suspended its work starting at 4 p.m, Monday, amid continued heavy rains associated with the southwest monsoon or habagat.

In an advisory, Senate Secretary Renato Bantug said Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian ordered the suspension of work in view of Memorandum Circular No. 127 issued by the Office of the President and the red rainfall warning issued for Metro Manila.

"Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian has authorized employees to leave the office beginning at 4 p.m., today, Monday, 17 August 2026," Bantug said.
