SEN. Bong Go, on Tuesday, called for more concrete and responsive government measures to address the impact of rising fuel prices.
Go said the period of reflection during Holy Week comes amid economic pressures linked to the Middle East crisis.
“The most important thing to me is the welfare of ordinary Filipinos, the destitute, the poorest, and those with no one else to turn to but the government,” Go said.
Go emphasized that sectors most affected by fuel price hikes — including transport workers and low-income households — require immediate and sustained support. He urged concerned agencies to implement targeted interventions to mitigate the impact of rising costs as mobility and economic activity resume.
He underscored the importance of preparedness and interagency coordination to ensure effective implementation of mitigation measures, noting that clear communication and efficient systems are essential to prevent additional strain on the public, particularly as travel and commerce increase after the holiday.
“If we learn something from Holy Week, let us take it to our daily work. Let us show concern for others, especially during times of crisis. By working together, we will be better able to overcome any challenges,” he said.
