  • The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) against the decision to overturn the Africa Cup of Nations final result.
  • Cas confirmed it has received the FSF's appeal and will appoint a three-person panel to consider the matter, with a procedural calendar to be established.
  • This appeal follows a ruling by the Confederation of African Football (Caf) Appeal Board, which stripped Senegal of their title and awarded it to Morocco.
  • Senegal was deemed to have forfeited the match after their players returned to the dressing room for 14 minutes in protest of a controversial late penalty awarded to hosts Morocco.
  • According to Afcon regulations, a team that refuses to play or leaves the ground before the end of a match without authorisation is declared the loser, resulting in a 3-0 win for their opponents.
