SANDAKAN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a senior state government agency officer for allegedly submitting two documents containing false particulars regarding claims for meeting and official visit expenses.
Sabah MACC director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah said the female suspect, in her 30s, was arrested at about 10am on Tuesday after presenting herself to record a statement at the Sandakan MACC branch office.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly committed the offences between 2023 and 2024 in connection with claims for meeting expenses and costs incurred during a working visit by a senior ministry official.
Mohd Fuad said that the matter is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
The suspect is scheduled to be charged at the Sandakan Sessions Court for corruption cases on Thursday (Oct 8).
