Serena Williams is preparing for the second match of her stunning comeback to tennis in the doubles competition at the Berlin Tennis Open.

The 44-year-old US star posted photos and videos on Instagram of her training on a grass court ahead of the tournament, which serves as a warm-up for Wimbledon.

The 23-time Grand Slam winner returned to tennis at Queen's doubles event last week after a four-year retirement.

She won her first match with Canadian partner Victoria Mboko, but the pair were forced to pull out of their quarter-final after the latter suffered an injury.

Williams is due to play alongside Czech player Karolina Muchova on Tuesday, but the opening match could be postponed amid unpredictable weather in the German capital.

The four-time Olympic champion's press conference, scheduled for Monday, is yet to be confirmed.

The singles competition is set to draw stars including world number one Aryna Sabalenka, Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina and US Open finalist Jessica Pegula, with the round of 32 beginning on Monday.

World number 80 Eva Lys, who received a wildcard, is currently the only German in the main draw in Berlin. The Hamburg native, who conducted the draw on Saturday, will face a qualifier in the first round.

The tournament is already over for 21-year-old German player Ella Seidel, who lost 3-6, 4-6 in the first qualifying round to France’s Diane Parry.
