LABUAN: Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce Chairman Datuk Wong Kii Yii applauded Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for deciding to increase civil servants’ long overdue salary increment despite the financial challenges.
“The increase will be a relief to many who have trouble making ends meet due to the creeping cost of living over the years,” he said.
Wong noted that with more people having more money in their pockets, the private sector would also benefit, especially the F&B outlets, stores, etc, which would see increased sales volume.
“But it is also hoped that the pay adjustment would see improved quality and efficiency of public services and that they meet public expectations.”
