KUALA PENYU: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) has no problem providing electricity supply to a PPRT house belonging to Zahari @ Murnih Juhara, 67, from Palu-palu.

A spokesperson, known as Wati, said they did not receive any application from Zahari.

“As long as there is an application, it will be processed according to the rules, but we have not received any.

“We hope the contractor involved will submit an application on behalf of Zahari. SESB will never reject the application if submitted,” she said.

Wati said SESB officials visited Zahari’s house to investigate his allegations and denied rejecting Zahari’s or the contractor’s application.

Zahari @ Murnih Juhara, when met, said this means the contractor should follow up with the application, not that it wasn’t authorised by SESB.

Zahari also expressed dissatisfaction towards the Water Department and queried why unlike him, his neighbours had access to both facilities.

“Contractors should implement the connection of these two basic necessities before an owner inhabits the PPRT house,” he said.

According to Zahari, the contractor told him that the Water Department and SESB did not give permission to install the two infrastructures.

“I have never stolen water or electricity and I am debt-free so I wonder why I cannot receive these supplies.

“My wife and I live in the dark and it’s hot with no fan. Boiling water or washing clothes are impossible.

Zahari is a recipient of welfare assistance of RM500 monthly. Some of his next-of-kin work in the Peninsula as factory workers.

“It seems that the contractor is playing hanky-panky by not installing electricity and water which should have been done before we moved in.

“We hope the government take action against the contractor involved,” said Zahari. He also thanked the Daily Express for helping shed light on his ordeal.
