Seven out of 10 Filipinos trust AFP – survey

SEVEN out of 10 Filipinos continue to trust and are satisfied with the performance of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), a survey conducted by independent pollster OCTA Research showed.

In the Tugon ng Masa survey conducted from March 19–25, 2026, 72 percent of adult Filipinos said they trust the AFP, while only 11 percent did not, for a net trust rating of +61.

Trust in the AFP was highest in Visayas at 75 percent, as well as among class E at 77 percent.

Meanwhile, 70 percent of Filipinos were satisfied with the performance of the AFP, while only 14 percent expressed dissatisfaction, for a net performance rating of +56.

Performance was highest also in Visayas at 73 percent and Balanced Luzon at 70 percent.

Class E respondents were also the most satisfied at 75 percent.

OCTA said that the results showed that the AFP continues to enjoy broad institutional legitimacy and public confidence among geographic regions and socioeconomic classes.

“The consistently high trust and performance ratings reflect strong public recognition of the AFP’s role in national defense, territorial security, disaster response, and public service,” it added.

The survey had 1,200 respondents and a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
