Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli was pleased after their 1-1 draw at Champions League opponents Borussia Dortmund.
It marked Sampaoli's second game in charge since last week's dismissal by Julen Lopetegui.
The Argentine said, "We were superior in a lot of moments … I think it was a step forward.
"I'm just looking at the next game and for the team to carry on competing. When we find an idea, a way of playing in a certain manner, then we'll start to see a future. Today we're only starting to get used to each other.
"It's important that the team feel well out on the football pitch and compete against any opponent and that is what they've done today."
