
Kota Kinabalu: A 63-year-old man, charged with committing physical sexual harassment against a 13-year-old girl, will know on Dec 16 this year whether he has a case to anwer.
Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz set the date for Jonbi Suilin during the clarification of submissions of the case.
In the event of the defence being called, the court fixed the same date for Jonbi’s defence.
He is accused of committing the offence against the girl at 7.30pm on July 20, 2019 at a car park near the Dato Syahbandar Mekang hall in Kuala Penyu.
The offence, under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, upon conviction.
The prosecution had called six witnesses during the hearing.
Counsel Amli Nohin defended Jonbi.
Meanwhile, two illegal immigrants were jailed four months each for entering the State illegally.
Adam Andy and Falak Arikan pleaded guilty separately to the charge against them.
The illegal immigrants were arrested separately on Oct 14 and 21 this year in Penampang after failing to produce their identification documents to the police.
The court ordered the duo to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrests.
After completing their jail sentence, the illegal immigrants were ordered referred to the Immigration Department for their biometric data to be recorded before deportation.
