SEMPORNA: Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal dismissed claims that he prioritised his own family by selecting Jamil Hamzah as the party’s candidate to contest the Bugaya state constituency.
Voting for the State by-election due to the death of the former elected representative is being held jointly with the Sabah parliamentary election today (Saturday).
“We pick candidates who are suitable for the current situation. This doesn’t mean the next in line should be heir of the incumbent, for example the party’s candidate for Kudat is not the heir of Tun Datu Haji Mustapha Datu Harun,” he said.
