KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief and Public Works Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya said the State Government, through PWD and the Water Department, is carrying out emergency repairs to restore roads and water supply disrupted by floods and landslides.

He said the Penampang–Papar road near Kawang was cut off by landslides, while water tankers have been mobilised after raw supply lines to Kota Kinabalu were badly damaged, leaving a 30 million litre daily shortfall.

The Water Department has logged about 800 complaints, including 46 burst pipes, with repairs prioritised on major lines.

Shahelmey urged the public to follow PWD and Water Department social media for real-time updates.

He stressed that long-term flood mitigation and slope stabilisation projects require urgent Federal support.
