MLA Kewal Singh Pathania on Sunday visited earthquake-hit villages across the Shahpur subdivision, assuring full state assistance to families whose homes were damaged in Friday night’s tremors.

Pathania toured the impacted villages of Bhonthu, Rawa, Khadi Behi, Kareri and Naura to listen to grievances of the locals. He reassured residents that the state government stands firmly with them during this crisis.

A 5.0-magnitude earthquake rattled Kangra and adjoining districts on June 5, damaging several houses and crucial infrastructure. According to officials, between 50 and 60 families in the Shahpur area were impacted, with mud and kutcha houses suffering the most structural damage and severe cracking.

Pathania directed Revenue Department officials to immediately survey the impacted properties and submit a detailed loss assessment as soon as possible.

“The state government is committed to supporting every affected family. All possible help will be provided to those hit by this disaster,” Pathania said.

The MLA also instructed officials to closely monitor the availability of essential services — such as drinking water and electricity — to prevent residents from facing further hardships. Local panchayat representatives and villagers also met with the authorities to brief them on the extent of the damage.
