Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday visited the south London grave of the Welsh metal worker who founded the Ukrainian city in 1870.

Ahead of Thursday's Conference League semi-final second leg at nearby Crystal Palace, the club paid their respects to John Hughes.

Donetsk used to be called Hughesovka. The team have not played in Donetsk in the east of the country for years due to the Ukrainian conflicts.

Shakhtar trail Palace 3-1 for last week's first leg, which was played in Krakow.

Coach Arda Turan told a news conference: "I have a lot of respect for (Crystal Palace coach Oliver) Glasner. I got checkmated in the first match. In the second leg, I at least want to match him. I'm very happy to face a coach like him here."
