Shane Lowry heads into Sunday at the Cognizant Classic with momentum and perspective.

The Irishman fired a third-round 63 to surge into a share of the lead at 13 under par.

Away from the leaderboard, Lowry has also reflected on his unique relationship with Jack Nicklaus at The Bear’s Club.

As he prepares for the final group, the proximity to golfing greatness offers both inspiration and grounding.

Shane Lowry opens up on time spent with Jack Nicklaus at The Bear’s Club

Shane Lowry is a member at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, Florida, where Jack Nicklaus serves as founder and chairman.

Regular access to the 18-time major champion remains a source of pride for the former Open winner.

“Yeah, it’s a bit surreal, to be honest,” Lowry said. “I go into the locker room at the Bear’s Club most days for my lunch, and Jack is in there a lot.”

Nicklaus remains an active presence at the club, often spending afternoons with fellow members.

“He plays cards with the other members in the afternoons. I’m not good enough to be in that card game,” Lowry added.

“I’ve sat down and talked to him, had lunch with him a few times, and just to be around people like that is incredible.”

Lowry also highlighted Nicklaus’ wider impact on the sport and local community.

“He’s done so much for this game and this whole area and community. I’m so fortunate to be able to be around people like that.”

For Lowry, the relationship reflects respect rather than instruction. It is a perspective gained through presence rather than technical guidance.

Shane Lowry surges into contention at the Cognizant Classic

Lowry’s third round at the Cognizant Classic was one of the performances of the week.

He shot an eight-under-par 63 to climb to 13 under overall, moving into a share of the lead alongside Austin Smotherman.

The pair will play together in Sunday’s final group, setting up a direct battle for the title.

It is a significant opportunity for Lowry, who has not won on the PGA Tour since claiming the 2024 Zurich Classic alongside Rory McIlroy.

A victory would mark an important return to the winner’s circle and underline his consistency at the highest level.

With experience, confidence, and composure, Lowry enters the final round positioned to convert contention into silverware.
