Shaquille O’Neal admitted he felt a mix of admiration and jealousy after Bam Adebayo delivered a historic 83-point performance that shook the NBA record books.

The Miami Heat center produced one of the greatest scoring nights ever seen in the league.

Adebayo’s performance not only stunned fans but also drew reactions from former NBA stars watching the historic milestone unfold.

Shaquille O’Neal reacts to Bam Adebayo’s 83-point record-breaking game

Shaquille O’Neal discussed Bam Adebayo’s historic night on 880 CHED, with video of the conversation showing the NBA legend reacting to a performance that saw the Miami Heat star score 83 points in a single game.

Adebayo’s scoring explosion broke Kobe Bryant’s famous 81-point game from 2006 and now stands as the second-highest single-game total in NBA history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain’s legendary 100-point performance in 1962.

O’Neal praised the achievement but also questioned how the scoring unfolded during the game.

“Every record is meant to be broken. Kudos to Bam. He had a great game. I didn’t watch it, [but] you see the stats, I’m just wondering how somebody goes to the free throw line 46 times?” O’Neal said.

He added: “But basketball has always been a game of strategy. So, a guy has 60 and you can find a way to get him to 70, I say go for it.”

The performance instantly reignited discussions about some of the most famous scoring records in NBA history.

Shaquille O’Neal admits jealousy over Bam Adebayo’s historic night

Despite praising the performance, O’Neal admitted part of him wished he could have been the one producing such a historic scoring night.

“But, not upset. I’m actually jealous and happy for him. Wish it was me. I’m the guy that jealousy motivates me,” Shaq continued.

He concluded, stating: “So, I kind of wish it was me getting all the praise, to be behind Wilt Chamberlain and score 80 [83] points. That’s a great accomplishment.”

O’Neal was one of the most dominant centers in NBA history, but his career-high scoring performance never reached the heights of the league’s most famous scoring records.

That is why Adebayo’s night immediately stood out as one of the most remarkable individual displays the sport has seen in decades.
