'She Wasn't The Intended Target,' Says Dad Of Victim Injured In Banting School Attack
Students at a secondary school in Banting, Selangor had to flee for their lives after a girl was caught on camera brandishing a knife within the compound.

A female student was left severely injured in the attack, where she sustained more than 10 stab wounds to her back and shoulders.

Thankfully, she’s reported to be in a stable condition.

Dad speaks on what happened

Speaking to the media, the victim’s father, Mohd Firuz Ibrahim, said he was at work when he saw he had several missed calls on his phone.

When he realised it was his daughter’s teacher who called, he called back and assumed it was because his daughter had fallen ill. But little did he expect to hear of her getting stabbed.

“When I arrived at the hospital, she was in quite a bad condition. It was not long before they took her for a scan to determine the extent of her injuries.

“She is conscious, able to speak and suffered about 14 stab wounds, mostly to her back, with other injuries to her face and head,” he said as quoted by NST.

Wrong target?

Firuz said his daughter knew the suspect as they were in the same class last year, adding that he doesn’t think his daughter was the suspect’s target.

Maybe she wanted to target someone else, but my daughter happened to be the closest to her and may not have been able to run away in time.”

“She’s been studying at the school for three years and had never complained of being harassed or having problems with the other students.”

Firuz also called upon the school to tighten its security measures by conducting proper screening before letting anyone enter the premise.

Meanwhile, Kuala Langat police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the case is now being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
