For Formula 1 fans, getting a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes is something special. Shell V-Power recently gave a group of lucky Malaysian motorsport enthusiasts that opportunity through its exclusive Shell Motorsport Experience, bringing them closer to Scuderia Ferrari HP and its star drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.

Held in conjunction with the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, the experience gave selected Shell customers access to parts of the motorsport world that fans rarely get to explore, including a pit lane walk, a visit to the Scuderia Ferrari HP garage and a look inside the paddock at Sepang.

One of the highlights was a visit to the Shell Trackside Laboratory, a mobile facility where Shell scientists analyse the racing fuel and lubricants used by Scuderia Ferrari HP in real time. It offered guests a closer look at the technical work that goes into keeping a Formula 1 car performing throughout a race weekend.

The experience became even more memorable when guests had the chance to see Hamilton and Leclerc in person, before soaking up the atmosphere from the grandstand.

For Kumaragurubharan from Port Dickson, who has followed motorsport for 12 years, returning to Sepang after nine years was already meaningful. Getting to see both Ferrari drivers up close made it even better.

"The last time I watched the race at Sepang, I was 14. Now I'm 23, so to be back nine years later and experience it this way feels incredible. I never imagined I would have the opportunity to see Lewis and Charles in person, and I feel really lucky to be here," he shared.

Another guest, How Bee Yong from Klang, has been a Ferrari supporter for years and has collected Shell Ferrari model cars. For her, the experience was made particularly special by being able to share the occasion with her son, who had already purchased his own race ticket.

A Malaysian Touch for Hamilton and Leclerc

The celebration extended beyond the circuit with a special gathering at Shell KLIA Sepang, where Malaysian motorsport fans had an opportunity to show their support for the Ferrari drivers in a distinctly local way.

More than 500 messages and well-wishes from Malaysian fans were incorporated into bespoke batik-inspired pieces created for Hamilton and Leclerc. The designs combined traditional Malaysian artistic elements with the names and personal messages of fans who wanted to share their encouragement with the drivers.

The pieces were presented during a closed-door event by Siti Sulaiman, Country Chair of Shell Malaysia, and Zairi Dzuljastri, General Manager of Shell Mobility & Convenience Malaysia.

Zairi said the occasion was an opportunity to bring Malaysian customers closer to the people, technology and passion behind Scuderia Ferrari HP, while highlighting the long-standing partnership between Shell and Ferrari.

That relationship stretches back more than 75 years, with both companies continuing to collaborate on fuel and lubricant technologies. Shell also highlighted how its motorsport research contributes to the development of Shell V-Power fuel for everyday drivers.

The exclusive experience was organised as part of Shell Malaysia's Feel the Fuel campaign, which ran from 24 August to 20 September 2026. Customers participated through entries collected via the Shell App, with selected participants receiving access to the motorsport experience.

For the lucky fans who attended, it was a chance to experience Formula 1 from a different perspective, meet some of the sport's biggest names and take home memories beyond the usual grandstand view.
