KUALA LUMPUR — If Florida’s blustery conditions were supposed to slow her down, Shereen Samson Vallabuoy did not get the memo.

The 26-year-old Malaysian sprinter—representing Life Speed—powered through a challenging headwind to dominate the women’s 400m at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic 2025, clocking 53.72 seconds for her first gold of the year.

According to Malaysia Athletics, Shereen admitted the “windy conditions and headwind made the first 200m tough”, but she quickly adjusted.

“However, overall, she felt very good technically and ran with full strength,” the post read.

American runners Gabby Johnson (55.17s, silver) and Nevaeh Lorjuste (56.91s, bronze) chased valiantly but could not close the gap, leaving Shereen to celebrate a hard-earned victory. — April 6, 2025
