Former Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood believes Emiliano Buendia is like having a new signing this year.

The attacking midfielder is in the form of his life at Villa under boss Unai Emery.

Buendia is finally showing why Villa paid Norwich City so much money to sign him a few years ago.

Asked about the team and Buendia, per Birmingham Live, Sherwood said: That place is bouncing. I did the game [on Saturday], seeing the fans These fans can be incredible when things are going well. It can be very difficult if things are not and it takes a brave player to go and play there.

But at the moment he's set them up brilliantly. Across the middle of the park they've got four central midfield players; McGinn playing off one side and Ramsey off the other. They're running beyond Ollie Watkins. Watkins is staying the width of the posts. He's not coming towards the ball. He's running [defenders] away and he's creating space for Buendia who looks like a new player.

Look, before [Emery] came into the football club everyone was saying we've got a lot of deadwood here, we're going to have to change a lot of players. Not anymore. Not anymore. Six weeks ago they had nothing to play for. They weren't getting relegated and were nowhere near European places. Not anymore. They're right in the mix for the Europa League and possibly an outside chance for the top four. Incredible job Unai Emery's done. Congratulations to him."
