Kota Kinabalu: The “My Gaya Sabah” programme will showcase the creativity of local fashion designers at ITCC Shopping Mall in Penampang this Saturday.
Organised by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) in collaboration with the Bumiputera Fashion Designers Association of Malaysia, the event will feature designers from both Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.
KPDN Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the programme, which will be officiated by Head of State’s wife Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, will highlight the works of 10 prominent designers, including veteran fashion icon Datuk Tom Abang Saufi as a special guest.
“By hosting this event in Sabah, we aim to help local designers build networks, gain exposure to new creative trends, and expand their market reach. We have also invited industry stakeholders to share insights and experiences,” he said.
“A total of ten designers will be showcasing their creations — six from Sabah and four from other states,” Armizan added after a courtesy call on Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu on Monday.
He expressed hope that the programme would serve as a platform for continued strategic collaboration between local talent and leading names in Malaysia’s fashion scene.
The courtesy visit also allowed Armizan to brief Musa on KPDN’s efforts to stabilise the prices of essential goods in Sabah, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan.
“KPDN will focus on several key items to narrow the price gap between the three regions, prioritising goods that can be produced locally in Sabah. We will continue working with both federal and state governments, as well as industry players, to explore next steps,” he said.
Also present were KPDN Secretary-General Datuk Mohd Sayuthi Bakar and Sabah KPDN Director Shahril Nizam Shahidin.
