AKPS director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain has declined the role of deputy chairman on FAM’s Integrity Committee due to time constraints and official duties.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain has declined the role of deputy chairman of the Football Association of Malaysia’s (FAM) Integrity Committee due to time constraints and his responsibilities at the agency.

FAM, in a statement today, said it respected Shuhaily’s decision and thanked him for his earlier willingness to assist the association in strengthening its integrity and governance.

“FAM respects the decision and records its appreciation to Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily for his willingness and commitment to assist FAM in strengthening integrity and governance.

“FAM will ensure that the smooth functioning of the Integrity Committee continues to receive attention in support of efforts to strengthen FAM’s integrity and governance,” it said.

The matter follows FAM’s announcement on Sept 30 of appointments to its standing committees for the 2025-2029 term.

Former deputy inspector-general of police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay was appointed chairman of the Integrity Committee, while Shuhaily was named as deputy chairman.

FAM president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan had said the selection of individuals from outside the executive committee for certain committees was based on their credibility and experience in relevant fields.

He said the appointments were aimed at ensuring the committees could function effectively and that FAM’s management and governance would be carried out properly.

The Integrity Committee was among 11 standing committees announced by FAM as part of its committee appointments for the remainder of the 2025-2029 term.
