KOTA KINABALU: Continuous rain forced the closure of several major routes here on Monday as landslides threatened public safety.
The Padang Merdeka–Istana, Sri Gaya–Kota Kinabalu, and Istana–Signal Hill stretches have been shut down after multiple slope failures, with one bungalow on unstable ground now at high risk.
Authorities said emergency crews are monitoring erosion-prone slopes citywide as heavy rain persists, warning of more landslides in vulnerable areas.
Residents have been urged to avoid affected roads, while motorists are advised to use alternative routes and exercise extreme caution.
Emergency teams remain on standby as bad weather continues.
